A lot of people are asking which of these two is better. Do-It-Yourself (DIY) or Joining a tour? And it’s not an easy question to answer. In my opinion, there are people who would like to spend a little bit of money to get away from the stress of organizing a trip. And likewise there are people too who wants their travel/trips to be “cheap” that’s why they choose DIY instead. Well there’s no write nor wrong answers to this. In this article I will list down the Pros and Cons on both DIY or Joining a tour.
I have been doing DIYs for a long time with my family and my friends. I haven’t experienced a lot of tour yet. If you were to ask me, I like doing both depending on my schedule. If my time permits me, I would gladly choose DIY and if I’m busy and don’t have a time to research about the place that I wanted to go to, then I would join a tour.
So let me list down the Pros and Cons of doing a DIY or joining a tour.
|No Agency Fee||Might get scammed if you’re not careful|
|You’re in-control of your time while traveling||You need time for researching on the place|
|Unplanned adventures! Discover new places||Traveling from place to place if commuting|
|More time to bond with your buddies|
|Meet new friends along the way|
|More interaction with the locals|
More “ALONE” time
You’ll learn to be independent with your friends
More interaction with the locals
Getting lost is FUN!
Joining a Tour
|Less planning on your part||Eliminates the thrill|
|Sometimes they offer better hotels||Agency fee (it maybe minimal but still)|
|Meeting new people with you on tour||A bit expensive than DIY|
|Ease of traveling|
Meeting new people on tour as well
Joining a tour is worry free, you can focus on the FUN activities instead.
But hey! It doesn’t really matter if you go on a DIY trip or join a tour. The important thing is you enjoyed your travel and gained fun and meaningful experiences. Right? So which do you think is better DIY or joining a tour? Let us know on the comment.
